Augmented Reality Chinese Poetry Teaching AIDS: A new tool for virtual teaching of Chinese language
In this open class, our team will present a set of AR ancient poetry teaching AIDS and an “AR-PL model” to assist in AR ancient poetry teaching. We will also select CHU SAI (by Wang Changling) from the second stage of primary school as the teaching content of this open class. The course design follows the process of “experience – exploration – teaching – summary”. It aims to provide practical examples for front-line teachers to efficiently use virtual teaching tools to conduct real classroom teaching, and at the same time, to jointly discuss with colleagues in the education field the implementation paths of artificial intelligence technology empowering teaching and interdisciplinary integration.
The open class takes AR technology as the entry point to lay out the teaching scene of ancient poetry. At the beginning of the class, the user activated the AR effect by scanning the AR card, presenting the grand image of “Qin era’s bright moon and border-pass stay the same, Men away on conquest mission have not yet returned.” in the CHU SAI in a vivid and intuitive way. This section breaks through the limitations of traditional textual explanations, stimulating users’ interest in learning ancient poetry through immersive experiences and laying a perceptual foundation for a deep understanding of ancient poetry. Entering the exploration stage, users watch AR animations and interact with AR virtual scenes, deepening their understanding of the connotations of the verses in the process. Finally, the teacher smoothly carried out the consolidation teaching link, systematically connecting key teaching contents such as character and word analysis and literary techniques.
This public class took CHU SAI as a sample to verify the efficacy of AR ancient poetry teaching AIDS and the “AR-PL model” in stimulating students’ interest in learning ancient poetry, deepening their understanding of ancient poetry, and cultivating moral sentiments. Throughout the entire AR ancient poetry class, users not only acquire knowledge of characters and words, but also receive nourishment for their moral sentiments and humanistic qualities. They advanced from interpreting the content of ancient poems to exploring the main emotions, understood the heroic ideals of the “Flying Generals of the Dragon City”, and felt the patriotic spirit of the soldiers guarding the border. Meanwhile, the process of students learning with AR teaching AIDS also exercises their 21st-century learning abilities such as collaboration and communication, promoting the transformation of the learning mode from passive acceptance to active construction. In conclusion, this open class will present a practical sample of integrating artificial intelligence technology into Chinese language teaching to colleagues in the education field.
