Biography

Eria Li received her PhD from The University of Hong Kong. Her professional background is occupational Therapist. Currently, she is appointed as the Consultant, Institute of Special Needs and Inclusive Education at The Education University of Hong Kong. She is also the Honorary Consultant to Autism Hong Kong. For the last 15 years and now, she has been a proactive clinical trainer in mainland China and the focus is on positive parenting, positive education and home-school support for children with twice exceptional.

Home-School Support — Twice-Exceptional

Abstract

Children with twice/dual-exceptional (2e) have giftedness or strengths (e.g., intelligence, language skills, mathematics capacity, motor skills, artistic talents, creativity, interpersonal skills, leadership, etc.), and they also have special needs such as ADHD/ADD, ASD or SpLD (Dyslexia). Besides, some of them have more than two special needs.

The presentation content will include the key concepts of positive psychology and the discussion of case studies to explain the strength-based approach to implement home-school support for children with 2e.

A practical perspective is adopted and the following three aspects are discussed:
1. Understand 2e behavioral characteristics;
2. Case discussion of children with 2e;
3. Implement home-school support with quality;

Outcome
The participants are expected to enhance the critical expertise of home-school support for children with 2e.
